Hum,

To do what you want the overlib javascript library won't be enough.
You'll probably need to retrieve features geometric info on the browser. 
The best way to do it should be to build <map > and <area > tags in the 
html page (ie with the [shpxy] mapserver template tag).

I must say it is a bit hard as we are currently investigating this 
functionality.
You'll be informed when it is available.
