Well, we had some problems with IE but not firefox.

What you could do is to manually add some debugging in the AjaxHandler.js 
file.
look for the line "Logger.trace('Response received!');" and after that add :
alert(response.responseText);

this will display the response content before it is being 
treated/decoded/parsed, so we can try to see if something look bad.
