Oliver,
There are no upeercase\lowercase problems because $id variable is an 
integer and $this->makesearch() function just checks for lower\upper 
case in SQL query into database:

     public function filterPostRequest(FilterRequestModifier $request) {

     $ResultFromDataBase = $request->getValue('myform');
   
       if (!empty($ResultFromDataBase)) {

   
         $this->ResultFromDataBase->comune = $ResultFromDataBase;
   
           
        $id = $this->makeSearch( $this->ResultFromDataBase->comune);
   
         if ($id) {
     
        $request->setValue('id_recenter_layer', 'comuni');
        $request->setValue('id_recenter_ids', $id);
       
       
       
   
     }
   
   
   
       }


       return  $this->ResultFromDataBase;

}
