Not to invalidate what Paul suggested, but I would be confused if 

<!--<cwc2..></cwc2>--> 

successfully commented out the tag, but 

<!-- <td>etc</td> 
     <td>more tags</td>
     <td><cwc2...></cwc2></td>-->

didn't.  Make sense?
