If I change the defines to:

define( "CHAMELEON_MAJOR_VERSION", "2" );
define( "CHAMELEON_MINOR_VERSION", "5" );
define( "CHAMELEON_POINT_VERSION", "0" );
define( "CHAMELEON_STATE_VERSION", "" );

in chameleon.php and then load sample_basic.phtml, I get the MapDHTMLWidget tag
in red AND an error report popup that says there is no such widget as MapDHTMLWidget

what did you do that was different?
