yes looking at the widget.php is the best verification. You could also verify
using running the doc_builder on Base attribute group.

Base_attribute_group.en-ca.doc.xml is located
/chameleon/htdocs/help/attributegroup/*.doc.xml

Once run you will notice that the 
<cham:attribute>
  <cham:name>NAME</cham:name>
.
.
<cham:attribute>

tag is commented out.

I have verified on windows using the doc_builder. :)
