I discussed with Julien and this solution can create a security issue.  We are
going to create a JS function in the application (sample.js) to execute the JS.

This function will go through the legendtemplatediv dom elements to look for
group_ and layer_ ids.  When an element will be found the relevant JS code will
be executed against that element.
