[Chameleon] cwc2 instance

Thus far I have successfully tested my Apache2, PHP 4.4.0, and Chameleon
package.  But, I can't seem to get my cwc2 instance configured properly.
When I test the service (by typing the path to cwc2.php in a browser) I
get the following error message - FATAL ERROR: Session save path ()
doesn't exist or is not writable.  Here are my current settings:

Questions:

1) When I installed MapScript 4.6 and its associated dll's, there were
some MapServer executables in the zip file but no instructions on what
to do with them.  Are they necessary or extraneous?

2) Beyond viewing "localhost/chameleon/samples", are there additional
tests I can perform to check my chameleon installation BEFORE
configuring the CWC2 service instance?  I am trying to isolate my
problems to the service instance.
