[Chameleon] WaitImage in JSAPI mode

Hi,

I have a custom WaitImage that is a gif animation with a white
background. When working in non-JSAPI mode, everything looks fine
because if I for example zoom in, I first get an empty map (with a white
background) and then ActivityLayer shows. But now as I work in JSAPI
mode, ActivityLayer appears before, above the "real" map backgorund so
my animation with a white background looks "ugly". 

I know I can set a transparent background of my gif animation but since
I didn't do this animation, it is pretty complicated to me. Is there
maybe another way?
