No, I am not using MS4W.<br>

But I just changed to PHP 5.0.5 and the related Mapserver/Mapscript.
Now the text display is fine. I have no idea what caused the problem
with the previous installation.<br>

I think that it might also be caused by some php.ini or apache.conf
settings. So I will check that too.
By the way, I am running everything on Windows. Maybe it's specific to
that.
