[FGS] Configure settings for Python

When I configured python I only used this option:
./configure  --prefix=/home/fgs/fgs-pkgs/dev/python

It created folders bin and man like I expected:
/home/fgs/fgs-pkgs/dev/python/bin
/home/fgs/fgs-pkgs/dev/python/man

But what about these:
/home/fgs/fgs-pkgs/dev/python/include/python2.3
/home/fgs/fgs-pkgs/dev/python/lib/python2.3

Everything is a level deeper than I had anticipated.  Should I be setting 
these using other configure parameters i.e. includedir and libdir?
