Gianni, 

The FGS GDAL is not built with ECW or JPEG2000 support as far as I
know.  If you have the GDAL commandline programs you can list all
built-in formats using:

 gdalinfo --formats

Or test for specific formats like this:

 gdalinfo --format ECW
