[FWTools] Measure data lost

When I save a vector layer from shape files with measure data the 
measure data is lost.  In fact if the input shapefile was PolylineM it 
becomes Polyline.  Ofcourse I'd love to be able to edit the measure 
values but barring that I'd at least like to be able to save a portion 
with the original measure data.  Perhaps I could help with this issue 
but I don't know what part of the code to start looking.
