[FWTools] can't open datasource

Hi all,

I've got a new installation of FWTools on linux, and I've
tried to convert an ERSI format shapefile as per
http://www.mapki.com/index.php?title=Shapefile_to_Lat/Lon_List

So in response to

   ogr2ogr -f "MapInfo File" out.mif myshape.shp

the output is:

FAILURE:

Any suggestions?
