Tahir,

FWTools for Linux is largely distribution agnostic, though it needs
a system that supports 32bit intel binaries (includes AMD64).   The
installation instructions are available at:

   http://fwtools.maptools.org/linux-main.html

I successfully use FWTools on my Ubuntu system.

Note that FWTools does not integrate with the native operating
system package system.  It has it's own tree with almost all it's
dependencies, only using a view very low level libraries from the
operating system.
