[FWTools] gdal_translate and JasPer?

Hi,

Does gdal_translate support writing JP2000 files with Jasper?  The gdal
documentation says creation with JasPer is supported, but I cannot get it to
work using gdal_translate from the FWTools shell.  JP2ECW is not an option
as my images are over 500MB.  If Jasper is not supported are there any other
options?
