[FWTools] fwtools + sql 2008 support?

Hi

I'm relatively new to FwTools/OGR, and am looking for
1)whether ogr2ogr supports (or if/when it will) support translation to 
sql2008.
2)alternate pathways to go from SDE to SQL 2008 native geography(eg sde 
 > odbc/WKT, sql trigger to update geography from WKT)

any help much appreciated.
