Hi Frank & Michael,
Thanks for your replies.
Michael, I gather it's not as simple as copying those files into the
FWTools\bin directory to get the MG4Lidar to work in FWTools?
Frank, I was extremely excited to read that you *might* be considering
resuming FWTools for Windows, it's certainly all I'm wishing for
Christmas!
Regards,
Chris

Hi Chris,
I've got two pre-built binaries for the MG4Lidar driver, both of them
built to run under ArcGIS. The 9.3.1-compatible binary is here:
http://resources.esri.com/arcgisdesktop/dotnet/index.cfm?fa=codeGalleryD
etails&scriptID=16906
The 10.0 binary isn't posted (difficulties with ESRI's web site). If
you would like that, let me know and I'll pass to you.
Unfortunately, if you're not using the driver with the version/compiler
of GDAL that ArcGIS uses, the plugin's will likely be unstable.

Chris,
I am not aware of aware of prebuilt binaries for windows with it. We
have MrSID plugins for GDAL 1.7 in OSGeo4W but 1.7 lacks the lidar
driver. I have a "gdal-dev" in OSGeo4W built from trunk, but that lacks
the MrSID libraries.
I am not actually sure that the lidar support has ever been built into
GDAL on windows yet. If we had GDAL 1.8 in the can, I'd build plugin
packages for that for you but it is still several weeks out.
I'm cc:ing Mike Rosen in case he happens to have binaries stashed
somewhere.
If I were still building FWTools for windows it would be a natural thing
to include. I really ought to get off my duff and get producing them
again.
Best regards,
