[FWTools] gdalinfo syntax error

Hi,

I installed the FWTools2.4.7 and started a tutorial, but it seems that my gdal library is not found. I tested it for gdalinfo and a tif file but the error message is something like: name 'gdalinfo' is not defined

and for gdal_translate --formats   the error message is saying a syntaxerror.
