Ugh, such a simple answer.

Out of curiousity - Is that any specific reason why HDF5 wasn't built into the linux version? I'd like to compile my own version with this support as it's pretty important to me at the moment. Any technical hurdles preventing this?
I've got an HDF5 file that is recognized on win FWTools, but not linux. Is HDF5 supported on linux? I can't seem to find documentation regarding this anywhere.
Using linux version 2.06:
/
*gdalinfo test.h5*
ERROR 4: `test.h5' not recognised as a supported file format.

gdalinfo failed - unable to open 'test.h5'.
Jamie,

I can confirm that FWTools for linux does not include HDF5 support.

You can check supported formats with the "gdalinfo --formats" command,
or check for a particular driver details by name - for instance
"gdalinfo --format hdf5".
