Hi,<br><br>I downloaded and successfully extracted and installed FWTools 3.0.1 in my /home/ directory.<br><br>I am trying to set the path from my root directory (i guess it does not matter where I am) using the following command: export PATH=$PATH:/home/FWTools-linux-i686-3.1.0/bin_safe/<br>
<br>and then if I try to run ogr2ogr commands, I get the following error: /home/FWTools-linux-i686-3.1.0/bin_safe/ogr2ogr: 9: /home/FWTools-linux-i686-3.1.0/usr/bin/ogr2ogr: not found<br><br>even though I can see that the ogr2ogr file is there both on /bin_safe/ and /usr/bin/ directories<br>

I suggest using the latest package (FWTools 3.x) from <a href="http://home.gdal.org/fwtools/" target="_blank">http://home.gdal.org/fwtools/</a> or better yet, use a repository as suggested in <a href="http://trac.osgeo.org/gdal/wiki/DownloadingGdalBinaries#Linux" target="_blank">http://trac.osgeo.org/gdal/wiki/DownloadingGdalBinaries#Linux</a><br>

Ok, <br><br>I did it again in my /home/user directory and again I cannot install it. <br>In the FWTools-2.0.6 directory there is a bin folder that contains a file named 'python'. I am attaching it in case you want to check if it is the correct file. <br>

<br>IMHO, It's not prudent to do this kind of stuff in the root folder. <br>Try your home directory. /home/<your_userid><br>

Hi,<br><br>thanks for replying, i used a simple unzip command >tar xzvf ...<br>and I do not see any error happening when extracting files..Is there a special way to see if there was an error? I think it would show it if a file was not extracted properly..<br>
I downloaded and copied the zipped file in my server /<root> and then run a tar xzvf command to extract the files. But I cannot see anything wrong happenign in these steps. Do you think something else is going wrong? I can always redo the whole thing.<br>

<div><div></div><div><br><br>Antony,<br><br>The bin/python in line 33 refers to the python binary file in the bin directory created by extracting the FWTools tar file, not /bin.<br>Check if the tar file is extracted correctly and the files are created OK.<br>

Hi,<br><br>I am sorry if I am posting in the wrong email, but I haven't found a link for a forum or discussion interface yet...<br>I downloaded and unzipped the FWtools but when I cd to the directory and type ./install.sh, it throws an error<br>
