ka-map seems like overkill to me. I could see a simpler implementation that
puts a larger image in a viewport and lets you drag the image around or zoom.
Assuming the images are not massive (like Mb's) then why bother with tiling.
I gotta think this has been done before...

generate flowchart pngs using php and GD. You can see an example
