Paul,
it's to do with the "broken image" problem I mentioned. After reducing the maximum
allowable connections on the client, all my IE related problems vanished. I'm currently
in the process of sorting it out with Microsoft.
Interestingly enough, my home pc also has an allowance of 10,000 simultaneous
connections. So it wasn't company policy, and it explains why I have seen it on so
many pc's.
