I'm having trouble logging into CVS:

cvs -d:pserver:cvsanon at cvs.maptools.org:/cvs/maptools/cvsroot login
Logging in to :pserver:cvsanon at cvs.maptools.org:2401/cvs/maptools/cvsroot
CVS password:

cvs [login aborted]: connect to cvs.maptools.org(209.217.116.153):2401 failed: Connection timed out

there are instructions on getting the cvs version at:

http://ka-map.maptools.org/index.phtml?page=cvs.html

Also, I believe that you can get a nightly snapshot of cvs from
ominiverdi.org but I can't find a link ...
