Yes, I'd love to see it.  Also, how did you do the variable 
substitution--last I saw, this wasn't supported in mapscript. 
I'm not in a big hurry on my project, so I'd be glad to wait until you 
get it done, or let me know if you want some assistance on finding out 
whether your solution is applicable to other needs.
