Hi Paul, 
So looking a bit deeper into the ka-Map php side of things it doesn't look like there really is a way to break the dependency easily on MapServer/MapScript is there? I mean it wouldn't be a straightforward task to say eliminate or replace the tiles generated by MapServer with say GeoServer would it?
It would be nice, if possible, to see future releases of ka-Map have the client side decoupled from the server side implementation. This would also probably not be very straightforward either though.
