hi Roman,
that example is still an example somewhere but not a good code.
The implementation of that "smart-zoom" is not that easy due to many 
factors mostly connected to browsers capabilities.
We've been playing with it but never ended.

In OpenLayers there's a project that develops such a function but it's 
not stable too.
