Subject: [ka-Map-users] Ka-map query attributes are not appearing
Message-ID: <7db916da0806012036w5f945f8aiea3c6fa5ee525be7@mail.gmail.com>
Hi,
I made some of the layers in my mapfile queryable as per the instructions in
ka-map wiki and it is working. But, one problem left. When dragging to zoom
to a feature in ka-map, in identify/query window, only the zoom icon is
appearing, and the attribute of that feature (which, inside the attribute
table) given in template.html is not appearing along with it, in
identify/query window. How to make it also to be appeared? The entries of my
mapfile is given below. Any problem with my settings or shall I add anything
else to get that?
Layer in mapfile:-

Sorry, I think the Ka-map 1.0 is too old ( Feb 2007 ). Till now there is no new version yet!
Does something get troubles or the 2.0 is the mix of Ka-map and OpenLayer ?
Thanks.

Hi, me and Kappu have the plan to prepare version 2 of ka-Map to the
next hacking event in Bolsena [1].
the plan is to offer the integration with OpenLayers.
in the last year, enough code has been submitted to CVS to create a
version 1.1
hope to have the time to release both versions.
ciao

thanks to the precious makefile by Paul, it was easier then what expected.
this is a minor update to release the bugfixing done this last 12 month.
changes:
- added AGG support
- updated kaExplorer
- updated kaSearch (patches by: Kuros, Lucian Bancescu
- horizontal zoomer (by: David Badke)
- precache with wget (by: Daniel Muller)
- added presentations for the workshops of this year (English and
Spanish versions)
- fixed many bugs (thanks to all submitters!)
packages:
http://ka-map.ominiverdi.org/release/
I've tested only the tar.gz and the zipped file with Linux.
I have no windows with me and hope somebody can check if the MS4W
package works.
the BETA state is due to the package status, mainly MS4W, because the
code has been used since long in many sites and works fine. If MS4W
works fine too, we'll quickly move to a release soon.
ciao

Subject: [ka-Map-users] XMLoverlay label
Message-ID: <1212509493.48456d3522608@www.usherbrooke.ca>
Hello again guys.
Thank you PG I solved my problem. I did not declare my function at the right
time.
But unfortunetaly, I've got another problem. I implemented a onmouseover() that
makes a pop-up appear with the ID of the XMLpoint under the cursor.
I just added this:
this.div.onmouseover=function(){ overlib(pid, STICKY,
CAPTION, 'Info')};
this.div.onmouseout=function(){ nd() };
in the KaXMLPoint function in KaXmlOverlay. I also added the overlib library.
My problem is that I want to call the label of the XMlPoints. As you can see,
right now I'm only calling the ID (pid). Is it possible to call the label of a
XMLPoint? If so, how can I do it?
Thank you
Maxime Phaneuf

Hi!
I have small sugestion for kaSearch and query sytem upgrade.
Problem expalanation:
If your layers are queryable/searchabe but are not in utf-8 encoding it
is problem for end users-nonprogrammers, and is problems if map has
multiple queryable/searchable layers with different encodings.
Sugestion howto solve:
So my idea is to add one more parameter in metadat block, just like
"searcahfield", "queryable" etc (it can be "layerencoding" or something
else). The addtitonal parametr will represent layer encoding and it can
be used in search, query scripts for iconv to convert:
- non utf-8 data output to utf-8 (usable in search and query scripts
output)
- utf-8 input to my encoding (in search script input).
Often queryable layers are labeled but I'm not shure that it is possible
to get layer label encoding from label block with php-mapscript.
Thanks,
pb

Hi guys,
I'm happy to read that ka-map is going on with new releases!
A few months ago I wrote this wiki page about a search function
customization I made:
Search By Filter Implementation - Ka-Map Wiki
In this period I have not enogh time to study a way to make all the
process "authomatic" turning this hack in a real patch. Probably for a
more experienced programmer (I'm a "gisser"...) this would be an easy
job...
So, if someone of you want try the code integration, I will be very
honoured to see something (initially) coming from my hands in the new
release!
alessio :)

Subject: [ka-Map-users] Add New Points to Shapefile !
Message-ID: <28aabd160806150622p42808c6cw28dac5b45e06df6@mail.gmail.com>
Hello Group !
May I know weather is it possible to edit
shapefile through kamap or UMN Map
Server. I need to save the new points in
the database that are added to the layer
over the web. Currently I am using
Shapefiles as my database. Any help or
suggestions would be appreciated.
Regards,
Mir Hashmi

Yes dbf update you need to make separately.
Dbf update is possible to make using php dBase functions (
http://lv2.php.net/dbase), if you are using PHP for scripts.

Hi everyone,
Recently i've finished a project that includes this technologies:
JSP
Java Servlet
Java Standard

MapServer

PostgreSQL + PostGIS
and I'm looking for a hosting in order to upload the application.
Does anyone knows any hosting provider that offers this technologies? and
prices?
Thanks a lot!
