Object created not displayed into the object browser after applying changes

I opened the tutorial map, I selected the map object.  I selected a "projection
object" and I created a new one.  I entered the following projection property:
"init=epsg:42304".  I then applied the changes.

The projection object I just created doen't appear into the object properties
browser.
