http://www.maptools.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=246 Summary: [SECTStudio-Fontalizer] Font picker vs. Font Family user issue. Product: MapLab Version: 3.0 Platform: PC OS/Version: Windows 2000 Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: SECT (Studio) AssignedTo: maplab-dev@lists.maptools.org ReportedBy: thorne@dmsolutions.ca The user interface is all confusing for the font setting, to the point where I miss interpreted how I was suppose to use the fontalizer. I will try and explain how this happened. 1) I did not realize that the font picker worked separately from the font family selector. 2) I thought I was suppose to first pick the family of fonts (ie. Bitmap or TrueType) using the combo box, then pick the Font I was going to us, using the Font Picker. 3) I thought once I have selected the font from the family I was going to use. The preview over the Font picker would show what I have just selected. 4) Then I thought that I could apply my offset and rotation to the font I have select, and the preview these changes in the preview on the left. Showing me how the font will look oriented on the map. The cool think I thought (which I was wrong, sort of) is that the Label picker preview would always show me what the font would look like without rotation or offset and with out having to select the apply button. Options: 1) To solve this confusion is all in how these features are oriented/communicated in the interface. For example the Font options for Bitmap vs. TrueType could be hidden/greyed out when one is selected over the other between each other. Font: Family [combobox] ------------- Bitmap Options: Size: [combobox] ------------- ------------- TrueType Options: [Labelpicker] button/preview Size: [Textbox] -------------- ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug, or are watching the assignee.
