Here are a few things to keep in mind: - For the copyright text, create a layer of type annotation, set its status to ON, set LABELCACHE OFF (or call drawLabelCache()) - Make sure your LABEL definition in the layer is complete - Set TRANSFORM FALSE in the layer if you define your point location in pixel coordinates. If not, please ask this question on the mapserver users mailing list (available through http://lists.gis.umn.edu/mailman/listinfo). you should find the php extensions in the extensions directory of your php installation. Normally, I would get the win32 binary package in zip format and extract to c: and rename the directory something like: c:\php423 for php version 4.2.3 I'm not exactly sure how to set up PHP to work with IIS/PWS but there are instrustions in the PHP documentation that you should use, try the online version at: http://www.php.net/manual/en/install.iis.php MAKE SURE YOU USE THE CGI BINARY OPTION FOR THIS!!!!! At this point you should be able to create a page called phpinfo.php in your web root with the following contents: and then access it from http://localhost/phpinfo.php. If you have php set up right, you will see a lovely lot of output that describes your current php installation. If it didn't work, you have to keep trying to get it to. I can't really help much unless you get past this point. Once you have a working PHP installation with your Web Server, you then need to install mapscript (you do _NOT_ need the mapserv.exe CGI to make maplab work. MapScript is mapserver in a PHP compatible library). Simply copy php_mapscript.dll to c:\php423\extensions and copy the libwww DLLs to c:\windows\system32 or some other directory in your path. At this point, you should be able to modify your phpinfo.php script to read: and access it through http://localhost/phpinfo.php. If all went well, you should have no error message at the top of the page and you should find a MapScript section somewhere in the page. Now you can follow the maplab installation instructions. I trying to run a query against a layer. I've set the template field to point to the html file that contains the db columns I want displayed to the users. This seems to be completely ignored. I went through the archives to get help and saw a post about limiting the result set columns by setting a RESULT_FIELDS keyword/value in a METADATA section of the layer. Strangely enough, I had compiled with proj, but I rebuilt the mapscript.so and the problem seems to be resolved. I am still left with three problems: In the mapeditor module, if I try to use the default .gif reference map, map creation fails. I presume you have built your mapscript with a version of GD that has gif support? Also, in the mapeditor module, trying to preview any layers that are annotated raises an error: Warning: MapServer Error in msGetLabelSize(): Could not find/open font in /var/www/maplab/htdocs/mapedit/preview.php on line 437 Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /var/www/maplab/htdocs/mapedit/preview.php(444) : eval()'d code on line 1 I presume this is a freetype problem? Although I am not sure what is needed to resolve this? I am currently using freetype2 on debian. In the mapfactory module I am getting an error that seems to be related to a poorly configured path somewhere: Warning: MapServer Error in msLoadMap(): (/var/www/maplab//var/www/maplab-2.0rc3//tutorial/tutorial.map) in /var/www/maplab/htdocs/gmapfactory/build_phtml.php on line 1274 Any pointers to getting these last couple of hitches sorted out will be greatly appreciated! You should be able to replace the GIF image with an appropriate PNG image. MapServer has issues with FreeType 2 related to finding font files, you will need to compile MapServer with FreeType 1, there information on the wiki that I sent you a link to. The final issue is one that I haven't solved to my satisfaction. I thought it was a configuration error, but one user suggested that it wasn't. In any case, it seems that people can get rid of this error somehow, please search the archives. I would really appreciate your feedback on the last item if you do solve it. Message-ID: <200212181528.31663.schut@sarvision.com> Hi all, some questions about maplab/mapserver compatibility: I presume maplab does not work with mapserver 3.7-dev ? Or is there a 'maplab for ms3.7-dev' version somewhere around? this not only because I'd really like to have 24 bit colour support but also because some of the php-mapscript api will change between 3.6.x and 3.7 afaik, so probably I could not use my maplab apps with mapserver 3.7...? Thanks, Vincent Schut. References: <200212181528.31663.schut@sarvision.com> Message-ID: <3E0092EB.7040005@ipunwired.com> Vincent, the current version of MapLab is not 3.7 compatible, but GMapFactory and MapBrowser will both work. Unfortunately, MapEdit is not compatible and requires some work to support 3.7. This is not planned for the near future. The changes between 3.6 and 3.7 may not interfer with your gmapfactory apps, you should give it a try. The most common problems will probably be with handling colours, we'll try to help you resolve them if you come across them.
