Irvan, I will file a bug about this, it should be possible to load mapscript as an extension in php.ini and still use maplab. There must be a place somewhere that does not check to see if the extension is already loaded. You *should* put maplab somewhere outside of the doc root. You *should* make the htdocs directory the web-accessible folder. The rest of the folders in maplab *should not* be web-accessible. In a future version, the administration tool for configuring maplab will be moved to a separate folder (htdocs_admin) so that access to it can be controlled separately from access to MapLab itself.
