This is a known mapserver issue:
http://mapserver.gis.umn.edu/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=316

it should be fixed in MapScript 4.0 soon, but unfortunately that won't
fix it for you with MapLab since you must be using version 3.6.  A way
around would be to force your layer definition to pull at least one
attribute from the table as suggested by Dave Blasby in the bug report
above.
