Hi,

Here is a begining of answer for the color picker - under Windows XP pro - :
I had the same problem and it cames from the J2RE version I used ; it 
was J2RE version 1_4_2_03. It seems to be the only J2RE which don't work 
fine with the color picker WHEN YOU INSTALL ALL THE ELEMENTS !
    Download and install the 1_4_2_04 version and all will work EVEN IF 
YOU INSTALL THE ENTIRE SOFTWARE.
