Hi,

Other people have reported this problem in various versions of maplab. 
A workaround is to include your symbol definition in a symbol file 
(referenced by the mapfile) so it is not in-line in the mapfile. I 
haven't been able to recreate this problem on my local copy of maplab 
2.2.
