I haven't looked at FIST (http://datashare.gis.unbc.ca/fist/) in much
detail but if you want to modify the Mapedit preview, it's pretty
isolated from the rest of the code. You could just make changes in
maplab/htdocs/mapedit/preview.phtml and preview.php and the rest of
mapedit should function as usual.

If you wanted to change the applications created by gmapfactory, you
would update maplab/htdocs/gmapfactory/build_phtml.php.
