I don't know if two hoorahs are better than one, but I'll add my "hoorah" 
for 24-bit support.  I don't mind the manipulation of the color palette all 
that much, but I use ECW images a lot and have found the color ones 
unusable because of lack of 24-bit color. So I end up serving grayscale 
imagery with ECW, and color imagery with TIFFs.
