[mapserver-users] how to show only visible polygons in the legend

Hello list.

I just made my first small mapserver web-app using the html-templating way. 
Now my problem is, that I have a layer with 6 polygones and the customer 
wishes to see just these in the legend that are visible in the actual extend.

To see what I mean, you might have a look at http://parkinfo.wuppertal.de. The 
application is already up and running.

We are using MS 3.5 with ESRI-Shapefiles.

btw.: Is there a way to generate a legend with more than one column (like in 
ArcView)?
