[Mapserver-users] status of bug 270: using CLASS in a raster layer only to produce legend entry

I'm using HTML Legends. I have a raster layer (a TILEINDEX, actually) 
that's RGB, and I'd like to display a pre-made legend image for it. When 
I add a CLASS element to the layer just to use the KEYIMAGE element, the 
legend renders (including the key image), but the map image itself bombs 
with a GDAL error message.

Does this mean that there is no solution to this problem currently?
