I am trying to design a simple scalebar object. The output is in gif format(dont know if this would affect anything).Anyways here is the code in the map file:

SCALEBAR

STATUS ON

UNITS METERS

SIZE 20 20

BACKGROUNDCOLOR 120 120 120

COLOR 120 120 120

END
