[Mapserver-users] gdal_merge.py and color images

Hello everybody,

I tried the GDAL tool 'gdal_merge.py' that in principal does exactly what I want: a mosaic of a large imageset with  reduced resolution. The only problem is that the produced images are 8 bit grey-scale while the input images are 24 bit color. Can anybody give me information if I can keep color information (also 8 bit colors are welcome)?
