[Mapserver-users] Unable to load GIF reference image.

Hello

The "http://mapserver.gis.umn.edu/doc/mapfile-reference.html" says 
about reference maps:

"IMAGE [filename]
Full filename of the base reference image. Must be a GIF image."

But using a GIF causes "msDrawReferenceMap(): General error message. 
Unable to load GIF reference image." Using a PNG works, though.

Probably old news for you. But I am new into MapServer, that's why I 
bring up this subject.
