I use following version on Suse Linux 8.2:
MapServer version 4.0 OUTPUT=PNG OUTPUT=JPEG OUTPUT=WBMP
SUPPORTS=PROJ SUPPORTS=FREETYPE SUPPORTS=WMS_SERVER INPUT=TIFF
INPUT=EPPL7 INPUT=JPEG INPUT=OGR INPUT=GDAL INPUT=SHAPEFILE

The problem appears by using the cgi-mapserv in an own small web
interface and by using a php mapscript web interface, too.
