[Mapserver-users] installation in a shared hosting environment

I'm about to try again to install onto a shared hosting setup (the
Ensim virtual server, running Linux, I think Redhat).

The shared hosting comes with Apache, PHP, and mySQL already
installed, and maintained by the hosting company. I don't want to
break the preinstalled Apache/PHP. But I do specifically want
PHPmapscript available.

I'm about to install a second copy of PHP, in a separate clean
subdirectory, which will be used only to drive Mapserv/Mapscript. Is
this a viable plan? Anything to worry about? Any suggestions on
config options or other gotchas?

TIA,
Hal
