Thanks for that hint. Although belonging to another problem it was a big 
help for me. I had problems with *.tif files. Because of your hint I 
compiled the mapserver again without tif and with gdal and that solved 
my problem. Now my *.TIFs work fine.

I'm not sure but I don't think that I read that in the documentation. 
Sorry if I'm wrong and I only missed it but if not and this is really 
missing shouldn't it be mentioned somewhere?
