[Mapserver-users] Mouse Over

Hi,

this questions comes up every now and then...

What is the current status, if I want to include mouse over events with 
mapserver-php/mapscript. Suggestions of previous mails mentioned the 
"plain" image map solution, i.e. to generate an image map out of the 
geodata and overlay it over the rendered image.
Are there some real-life examples for this?
What might be the performance when using it with a ~3000 polygon (~150 
points each) layer?

What about the mapplet XML approach. Is there some documentation 
available for this?
