Hi all,

My name is Dean C. Mikkelsen.

I'm new to Mapserver, but not new to GIS and mapping. I've worked
overseas in Africa, Europe and the U.S.

By training I'm a survey engineer from the University of Calgary.

I was mainly involved in exploration and production software and
databases for the last 11 years. I now do my own independent consulting.

Currently using Mapserver for a project in Europe and working through
its nuances - so to speak. Spending quite a lot of time gojng through
the PROJ.4 libraries.

While I worked in the states, I was a member of the Americas Petroleum
Survey Group and hence one of the guys who helped push the EPSG data
model. I know it's not complete, but coming from an oil and gas
background, it is a good foundation, and with further input from the GIS
community and other surveyors out there, we can make the model better
and add more datum's and map projections. We just have to know about
them. So if you come across new ones, let me know, and I'll pass it onto
the group.

My one question, though, I know I've probably missed it, but where are
the functions that create shape files from the data - such as databases.
I'd like to build them on the fly and then build the MAP file. Hence
make a dynamic system.

I'm also interested in seeing how Flash is being used.

Cheers,
Dean
