I've been playing around primagis for a few months now on a plone dev machine. There's good discussion on it at #zco, and if you join the primagis.fi site I think they have the irc logs available which might answer a bunch of questions...
Overall it seems extremely promising to me, especially if you are looking towards, or already are using, plone.

Open to ideas. It runs with MapServer as well.
