Hi everyone,

I'll be the most inexperienced of the group for sure. I have exactly one
mapserver application out there, and that was thanks to a lot of help,
especially from Tyler (THANKS AGAIN!!!!!).

I work at a web development / tech support company in the Sacramento, CA
area named Inspired Developers Group (www.idghelp.us
<http://www.idghelp.us/> ).

My exposure to mapserver started and so far is limited to one client that is
in the real estate analysis industry. He needed his subscribers to be able
to choose future building projects and be able to view them on a dynamic map
that showed major cross streets. Probably a very simple implementation of
the very basics of the server, but it was very challenging for me..and
honestly a lot of fun. Currently we are using mapserver in conjunction
with a windows coldfusion server which connects to MS sql and feeds dynamic
data to the mapserver. We have some great graphics people here and flash
folks so my next step is to build an even better interface hopefully flash
based and that is likely going to be the main focus I will work on, the user
interface. I am also very interested in learning sources (free and pay) for
layer data. The current major street and minor street data that I have at
this point is really old and not very accurate and takes away from the
perceived abilities of the mapserver from my clients perspective. I'll be
working this week on researching data sources, so if you know of any I'd
GREATLY appreciate the input. I am also interested in what kind of live
online data services are out there, like the satalite imagery one that tyler
showed me, that is really neat! I am also particularly interested in
finding unqiue user friendly ways of showing extended data along with the
dynamic map to the end user. Such as when hovering over a point on the map
having a information bar or box say some stats about that area, allowing
users to enter pinpoints on the map based on their "Custom" projects (street
address??).. creating professional printer friendly reports including the
maps.. stuff like that. We have a second client that just signed off on
another real estate industry mapping component to their intranet that will
dynamically map local resources based on a primary project property.. so
that might be interesting.

Lastly, I'm a 32 year old male, Gemini, married, 5 kids (yep, I'm a slow
learner.. 5 kids =] ) haha

Have fun everyone, I hope I'm not just a drain on the group and truly hope
to be able to help where I can.
