Hey there Rob,
I am also in Portland and would love to connect. I will be giving two
talks on Mapserver at the GIS in Action conference next week (man, I
need to get going on those!). There are a couple of options for
displaying coordinates and they all basically rely on JavaScript to
capture the mouse move event and transform screen xy to geographic xy.
I will be more than happy to talk to you about different options for
implementing this when we meet face to face next week. I will be in the
Natural Resources session the first day and the Mapserver session the
second day.

Welcome to the list and community. Anxious to hear about your plans
over at the USGS.

Aaron

Subject: [Mapserver-west] introduction + question

Hi all,
I wish to introduce myself as a new member of MapServer West and ask
for some MapServer advice. My name is Rob Wardwell, I live in Portland,
OR, and handle GIS / Web / database/ other duties as assigned for the
U.S.G.S. I enjoy using LAMP tools or Zope with mysql and last fall
worked on my first MapServer project. It's great! I am excited to work
with it more.

The advice part deals with my current project. I wish to implement a
set of onscreen Latitude/ Longitude coordinates that change as one
scrolls over the (projected) map. I'm reading up on my ajax tutorials
hoping that I can use this to talk with either php Mapscript, or
mapserver CGI. Has anyone had experience with this sort of thing?

Thank you in advance - I'll look forward to meeting some of you at the
GIS in Action conference in Vancouver, WA next week.

Rob
